Funniest Sci-Fi Memes of the Week (April 7, 2023)

What up, nerds? It's Friday, which means that here at Memebase we're gearing up for a little bit of freedom after a grueling workweek. And what do we do with that freedom? Well, we escape, of course.

Escapism isn't a new phenomenon. Humans have probably been indulging in it in some form since the dawn of man. Some people escape by drowning their sorrows at the local watering hole, while others sink into the couch, enjoying the same shows they've been watching (The Office) over and over again for years. Watching a show that takes place in a literal office isn't escapist enough for me. I need action. I need magic. I need unbelievable stunts, intricate worldbuilding, costumes, and makeup. I need some intrigue, and I need some wholly made-up languages that are spoken on a planet that is nothing like Earth. I need science fiction.

As escapism goes, science fiction books, television, and movies, are kind of as good as it gets. And while "escaping" to another galaxy can be thrilling, sci-fi usually provides us with a reminder that we'd still be struggling on Tatooine or on Vulcan.
